These Mormons were told that gay people can’t have missionary sex. Here is their response

Yeah, I know. The Mormon Church isn’t exactly known for its progressive stance on issues like same-sex marriage.

But this photo series featured in The Book of Mormon Missionary Sex? It’s about to turn everything you know upside-down…

Is that… missionary gay sex?

Yep – to be precise, it’s two Missionaries Elder Kimball and Elder Searcy posing in different sexual positions.

For example, here is the “bicycle position.”┬áTake careful note of the helmet:

It’s a little more ambiguous than it might at first seem however. Accompanying the images, for instance, is a passage from the Latter-Day Saints handbook which reads:

“Sexual relations are proper only between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully wedded as husband and wife. Any other sexual relations, including those between persons of the same gender, are sinful and undermine the divinely created institution of the family. The Church accordingly affirms defining marriage as the legal and lawful union between a man and a woman.”

On the other hand, it’s remarkable that images like these are cropping up at all!

It could be seen as an extension of Mormons who are open to building bridges between the religion and the LGBT community.

Surely an attitude like this can only mean that change is real and it’s happening faster than we thought.
